Palintest Total Alkalinity Test Tablets

Palintest Total Alkalinity Test Tablets in a 250-tablet pack are used to determine the total alkalinity in pool water, measuring levels from 0 to 500 mg/l.

What is Total Alkalinity?
This measures all the alkaline materials in the water. In pool water, alkalinity is often present as Sodium Bicarbonate. Proper alkalinity levels help buffer pH changes, making water easier to manage. Levels below 80 p.p.m. indicate insufficient buffering, while levels above 200 p.p.m. suggest excessive buffering. Both conditions can make chemical control difficult.

To test, add one tablet to a sample in a stoppered container, shake to disintegrate, and observe the colour change from yellow to bright red. Total alkalinity is calculated based on the number of tablets added and the sample volume, with specific formulas for 50ml and 100ml samples.
